For the Love of Antiques

March and April 2025
"For the Love of Antiques," on display at The Gallery at 200 Lexington in the New York Design Center March and April 2025, is a striking and sophisticated exhibition. This show marks a significant milestone in Mele's artistic journey, as it is the first time he has printed his photographs in the expansive size of 48x72 inches.

    The larger-than-life images

This show marks a significant milestone in Mele's artistic journey, as it is the first time he has printed his photographs in the expansive size of 48x72 inches. The larger-than-life images immerse the viewer in the fine details of his meticulously composed shots, revealing hidden nuances and playful intricacies that are often overlooked. Set against the pristine, white-walled space of The Gallery, these enlarged works are brought into a contemporary context, offering a fresh and dynamic approach to the traditional setting Mele loves to photograph.

Located on the 10th floor, where some of the world's premier antique dealers reside, the exhibition is a harmonious fusion of history, artistry, and modernity. The juxtaposition of Mele's maximalist images with the clean, minimalist architecture of the gallery space heightens the visual impact, allowing the vibrant textures, intricate patterns, and subtle storytelling within each photograph to take center stage.
